Ecological Homecoming Micro Adventure

Micro Adventure day ~ March 8th

Micro Adventure Call ~ March 12th 7-8:30 pm Irish/UK Time

“Awaken a deep sense of home in nature”

Do you long for a deeper connection to nature?  Would you like to awaken your ecological self?
Is the emerging Spring energy calling you to adventures?

On this micro adventure and follow up call, you are invited to an experience of ‘ecological homecoming’ – the felt sense of our local ecology and our planetary biosphere being our home.

The separation of humans from the rest of nature is foundational to our Western Society which relies on infinite growth based on the continuous ‘resource extraction’ from nature.

What would happen if we re-awakened our felt sense of connection with the rest of nature, creating a nourishing emotional bond ‘over and over announcing your place in the family of things’?*

Connecting back with the rest of nature is actually quite simple – we just need to put down our human preoccupations and distractions, and spend some intimate time with the rest of life, with senses open and with our minds quiet yet alert and curious.

The Micro Adventure

This call to adventure is a call to do just that: find half an hour sometime on March 8th to go out and sit amongst our wild kin somewhere near where you live – in a park, under a tree, in your garden, in the woods near you…
Open your senses more deeply* and notice who is there alongside you – the trees, the insects, the flowers, the birds, the signs of other mammals, including humans!

(or if March 8th just isn’t possible for you sometime before we gather March 12th)

* Here is a downloadable audio track of a ‘sense meditation’ to open your senses that you can listen to before you go out, or when you get to your spot:

Timeless timing:
We recommend you set a timer on your watch or phone for 30 minutes, then put it on airplane mode and away in your pocket so you can then enjoy full timelessness until it alerts you that the half hour is up.
We say half an hour because animals, especially birds, will likely leave the area when you arrive there, and after about 20 minutes, the more brave ones will return, judging you to not be such a big threat after all.
You are totally welcome to stay out for longer than half an hour too!

Things to take with you:
* Something to sit on (can be a camping chair, a bit of plastic sheeting, a sit mat etc
* A time piece (ideally a non smart watch to reduce possible distractions)
* Clothing to keep warm and comfortable – earthy/natural colours are recommended
* Binoculars (optional)

Things not to take with you:
* Newspapers/novels
* Food
* Your dog (unless you trust that they are capable of sitting quietly for 30 mins in an exciting smelling place full of other live beings)
* Other people that will try and talk to you while you’re sitting there quietly
* Anything else that will distract you from presence in your senses in that place…

The Micro Adventure Call

On March 12th, we will gather on Zoom to share how it was with each other. Nature connection experiences are deeply enhanced by telling the right, interested people about what happened for you, and hearing their reflections and questions.

We will also set up a Signal messaging group before the 8th, for adventurers to chat on and share stories before and after the sit spot experience.

We believe these practices of nature connection folllowed by human story catching support a returning home to wholeness, the ecological homecoming that is needed as the foundation from which healing and regenerative culture will re-emerge. We imagine a culture of loving kinship with our beautiful world, that leads to courageous acts of caring for all of life.

Cost: This event is run on Gift Economy, so please contribute what you feel moved, and able, to exchange for this. You can give your gift of exchange when book on, or after the call – our recommended gift is £16 – £32, or more, or less, as you choose!

If you are hearing this call to adventure in March, we look forward to meeting you!
